The Catechism on the Splendor of Truth
by Rev. John A. Hardon, S.J.
In this Catechism, Father Hardon synthesizes the teaching of Pope St. John Paul II’s historic document, Veritatis Splendor (“The Splendor of Truth”), on the relation of the Christian faith and Christian morality. There cannot be any Christian morality, the Encyclical points out, unless it is based on Christian truth.
The 64-page book is in a Question and Answer format and includes a helpful index. Topics covered are: Jesus Christ, the true light that enlightens everyone; a Biblical meditation on Christ’s dialogue on the rich young man; doctrinal assessment of certain erroneous trends in the modern world; and a pastoral application of the Church’s moral teachings.
