If any characteristic stands out in Saint Joseph’s life it is his complete confidence and total abandonment to God’s will. Not once did he hesitate or object; rather, he simply believed, while fully trusting in God’s Providence. In a similar way, we ought to imitate Joseph’s example, especially in these challenging times. His willingness to do that which God wanted—without question or hesitation—is a tremendous example of profoundly interiorized faith.
Years ago the IRL recognized Saint Joseph’s essential role in accomplishing God’s saving purpose and plan. In 1981 its leadership entrusted this unique organization to Saint Joseph, asking him to watch over our efforts and activities.
We invite you to place yourself under Joseph’s special patronage using this beautiful holy card with the exact prayer—composed by Servant of God Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.—that the IRL asked its friends and supporters to recite some thirty years ago. We do well once again to meditate upon Saint Joseph’s “obedience of faith.”
